Tuesday 15 July 2025
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope that many of you will be able to enjoy a break sometime over the summer. David and I will be away from tomorrow afternoon until 1st August.
I am very grateful to James for taking the services while we are away. Please support James and the church wardens in any way you can.
Junior Church over the Holidays
There will be no Junior Church during the holidays as most of our families are away.
From 13th July - 3rd August (inclusive) we will be providing activity sheets and story books in the Upper Hall for any children who attend, but parents will need to stay there with their children.
Sunday 10th August there will be an All Age service, and Junior Church will then resume from 17th August.
Church Picnic, Sunday 17th August
After the service on Sunday 17th August we are planning a church picnic in the Dählhölzli.
I hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us that day.
Hans Goepfert's Memorial Service, Monday 18th August, 2pm
At this service, we will give thanks for Hans' life, commend him to God's love, and pray for Donna and all the family.
Hans was a much loved member of the church community who gave so generously to our church life.
I hope you will be able to join us on the 18th August.
Christian Maturity
Last Sunday, we reflected on the opening section of Paul's letter to the Colossians.
We will be continuing to focus on this letter on the next two Sundays.
The letter encourages the Colossians to grow in their faith and to bear fruit in their lives as individuals and as the body of Christ.
Paul's aim is 'to present everyone mature in Christ.' (1:28).
Let us continue to pray for one another that we may indeed grow in maturity here at St Ursula's.
You might want to use these short verses below to pray for yourself and one another:
'As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.'
(Colossians 2:6-7).
With love in Christ,
Helen
